Hello all,
Before I begin this rant, I owe everyone an apology on behalf of my profession. Journalists have been asleep at the switch while the slimy little prick in Toronto has slowly but steadily moved our province into receivership.
I was aware that Dalton McGuinty had expanded the public sector in Ontario since taking over as Premier in 2003. I grossly underestimated how reckless his government has behaved. He will go down as the most destructive, short-sighted and incompetent boob to ever occupy the Premier’s Office in this once-great province.
The numbers are staggering.
Since coming to power, 331,700 jobs have been created under the Liberals in Ontario. Now hold on to your seat: 219,000 of them were in the public sector.
Public sector growth has outpaced the private sector by nearly 2 to 1 over the last seven years. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize this isn’t sustainable.
Last year alone, the number of public sector workers in the province making more than $100,000 increased by 26% in 2008 alone. There are now 53,572 public sector workers in the six digit range. That’s up 10,000 from last year.
So, during a recession year when private sector workers were slaughtered on mass, the public sector expands and their wages bloat.
Dalton McGuinty is on track to DOUBLE the provincial DEBT by 2012. This is his real legacy. The man’s a joke and the joke’s on all of us.
Ontario needs Mike Harris back at the helm. That man cut spending, restrained the public sector and more than one million net new private sector jobs were created in our province under his command.
He took a lot of flack from the unions who routinely tried to shut down services and hold the government ransom. Harris refused to be bullied by special interests.
We need that type of leadership restored to Ontario, Canada and the United States. Someone who will stand up to the ever voracious appetite of government bureaucracy and make the tough decisions.
I really need someone to try and defend McGuinty’s approach. To all Ontario Liberals out there, will someone please email me a mathmatical defense of the McGuinty government’s handling of the economy. Send it to rabidouxethan@gmail.com.
I’ll even post it here on my blog. We could all use a good laugh.
