The link in the title of this blog post is to Bob Hepburn’s article in today’s (Thursday’s) Toronto Star.
The opening line says it all;
Dalton McGuinty is arguably the best Ontario premier in more than a quarter of a century…
This rancid excuse for an Op-Ed should have been written on April Fools Day. I haven’t seen a more pathetic puff piece in a long time.
I’m sorry, but by every objective measurement, Dalton McGuinty ranks from mediocre to outright terrible.
Hepburn and the rest of his ilk are desperately trying to make sense of the conservative tide sweeping through Ontario at every level.
He desperately wants you to believe that McGuinty is wonderful but he’ll lose to Hudak because the Tory leader is a shameless opportunist.
I’ve got another explanation;
McGuinty is one of the worst Premiers in the history of Ontario and the public knows this to be true.
Anyone who DOUBLES the provincial DEBT on his watch is automatically disqualified from any “best of” list.
I was actually speechless after reading this article. Hepburn forces the few but faithful readership of the Toronto Star to ask “what does he take me for?”
McGuinty will join Ignatieff and Smitherman in the dustbin of history precisely because of his track record.
History will then begin to judge him accordingly. Real historians, not the Liberal hack writers at the Star, will conclude what we all already know to be true: McGuinty’s tenure has been a disgrace and a disaster.
This article must have been written on an acid trip. Read it and you’ll immediately understand my shock and awe at the Star’s ability to pump out something so mindblowingly stupid.
