Tomorrow (Monday) is election day in Canada. Every citizen in this fine nation had better get off their butt and go vote.

Far too veterans shed their blood to protect and defend our ability to elect our governments for us to take our democratic heritage for granted.

If you look around the world, people are being killed because they want to elect their leaders.

In short, every citizen who doesn’t vote is showing contempt for our martyrs. If you don’t like any of the options, maybe you should have put your name on the ballot and done things better.

Since you’ve chosen not to do that, vote for someone who has.

As for the outcome, I predict Conservative minority with the NDP in the Official Opposition.

A few days ago I predicted an NDP-Liberal coalition but there is another possibility; the Liberals will prop up the Conservatives.

The worst thing that could happen to Layton tomorrow is to actually win the whole thing. His party isn’t ready to govern. If he could take his crew to the Official Opposition level then spend the next two years recruiting high calibre candidates while assembling a platform that isn’t transparently bullshit, he’ll be much better off.

If the NDP win power tomorrow, it will destroy that party in the long run. They aren’t remotely ready for primetime.

The best outcome will be a Conservative minority. That will guarantee the end of Harper’s career. The tories can then position themselves for a majority under a different leader while the Liberals languish and self-destruct in the third place.

We live in exciting times…
